The benefits of micro-needling are a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. Eclipse Micropen also has a positive effect on hyper-pigmentation as well as on hypo-pigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks and generally creates a fresher appearance or glow to the skin.

What areas of the body can I treat?
Eclipse Micropen™ can be used on all parts of the body; Face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.

How is the procedure done?
A sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Eclipse Micropen. Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical gel to your skin and select the appropriate treatment depth based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.

What does it Feel Like?
The feeling associated with the Eclipse Micropen is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating needle tip reduces discomfort while the applied hydrating gel also makes the treatment more tolerable.

How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.

What is the downtime?
Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin.
The total healing time depends on the depth of needles used and the number of overlapping passes your skincare professional performs. On average, patients are red up to 2 to 4 days. Some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours. Utilizing the Eclipse Skin Revive System, or other quality skincare products, provided by your skincare provider, can help to speed up the healing process.before-after-2

When will I see the results?
Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues.

How many treatments will I need?
Some patients only require a single treatment, once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6 week intervals.

Wrinkles, pimples and dark circles, oh my!

 

A few weeks ago on our Facebook page we asked what your top skin concerns were. We got a great response and wanted 20130623-1231200458-1204to give you some hints and tips to help.  So here are your top skin concerns and along with what you can do and how we can help:

 

Wrinkles

Wrinkles are a major concern for many women as the years go by. The important part of managing wrinkles is understanding what causes wrinkles: As many know, sun damage is to blame for 90 per cent of damage to your skin (regardless of your complexion). Second to that is smoking as it damages the skin’s collagen, and then air pollution – all those toxins in the air can affect your skin by breaking down the vitamin E.

Of course, the natural process of aging can’t be stopped, but it should be noted that as skin ages it loses the ability to defend against the above nasties.

What we can do: AAA Skin Solutions has a range of wonderful topical products, and of course treatments such as micro-dermabrasion and IPL. We offer free consultations to discuss your concerns.

What you can do: Wear sunscreen, take care of your body and avoid stress.

 

Dark circles and bags under eyes

Many women suffer from dark circles and bags under their eyes. These can have a number of causes, so it is important to look into it.  In some cases, these are hereditary but in other cases there may be medical issue including nasal congestion, your monthly cycle, an allergic reaction or a kidney infection. We suggest popping into see your GP to double check. Outside of that, it could be your diet, lack of sleep, lack of water or too much time in front of the tv.

What we can do: We have some great topical products great for the under eye area, the ingredient to look out for is Q10. We suggest Synergie Practitioner Revitaleyes Eye Treatment Serum.

What you can do: Ever heard the saying, ‘you are what you eat’? It’s very true.  Make sure you have a healthy diet and drink plenty of water. Also, we suggest taking some time away from the tv screen.

 

Pimples

Pimples aren’t just a concern for teenagers, many men and women have acne problems of varying degrees even into their later years. They are usually caused by sebaceous glands becoming infected with bacteria causing them to swell up.
 

What we can do: We can assist with microdermabrasion sessions once you have been to see a skin specialist. All acne is different.

What you can do: Healthy diet and follow the skin regimen prescribed to you.

The texture of your skin is affected by a number of things including sun damage, acne, rosacea, eczema and various medical conditions. Even being prenant can change the texture of your skin. No one’s skin is perfect and there is no point being jealous of those celebrities who look picture perfect in the magazines your read, those photos go through a long retouching process before we even see them! However, there are a few things that can be done to make the texture of your skin look much better.

What we can do: Microdermabrasion sessions get rid of all those dead skin cells resulting in gorgeous smooth skin. We also have great scrubs, sun screens and moisturisers good for evening out that texture.

What you can do: As with many skin problems, eating a healthy diet is part of the solution, as is a good skin regimen that includes using a scrub containing AHA. We recommend Aspect Exfol L 15 (Exfloiating Serum). Also, get a good sun screen and keep your skin hydrated.

Good fuel and taking care of your skin on the outside is likely to give you that amazing glow. I thought I’d make this post about taking care of your skin from the inside – the food you eat! So here are a few important superfoods to assist with anti-aging:

 

Salmon_sashimiSalmon

As one of the richest sources of Omega-3, salmon can help plump up your skin. Not only that, but there is research to suggest it can decrease the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and heart disease.

 

Nuts

Not only do nuts feature in many diets to assist with weightloss, they are also great for your skin. They are full of healthy oils, fibre, vitamins, minerals and arginine.

 

Apples

You remember that old saying, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”? Well, apples are full of vitamin C, which speeds up skin’s cell production. It makes your skin look radiant and strengthens hair and nails! Apples also contain B5 and B9, which are proven to combat acne and irritation.

We all know spinach is a superfood because it is full of phytonutrients, antioxidants (vitamins K, C and E, plus folate, iron and carotenoids) – it helps to promote collagen production. You can use it in many things including salads and smoothies!

 

Blueberries

High in antioxidants, blueberries help to protect the skin from damage that leads to wrinkles, and mitigate inflammation and oxidative damage. Another great source of vitamin C.

 

Garlic

Garlic does more than repel vampires, it also promotes white blood cell growth, and has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. It also helps to reverse cellular decay.

 

Chickpeas

Low GI foods like chickpeas are important for vibrant, clear skin. Legumes in particular contain iron which is needed to make collagen (there’s a pattern here).

 

Olive Oil

As a source of monosaturated fats, olive oil helps to keep your skin smooth and supple. It contains vitamin E and polyphenols to protect skin against radical damage.
