Vitamins

Vitamin A and skin careScaly, dry skin? You might need to get a bit of Vitamin A into your system and onto your skin.

When applied topically, Vitamin A or Retinyl Palmitate, has a host of positive effects on the skin including, anti-aging and increased elasticity as well as anti-oxidant and moisturising capabilities. These are achieved by Vitamin A’s ability to rebuild and restructure the DNA of the inner cell. This in turn can reduce or even reverse the signs of aging – all those fine lines and wrinkles, roughness, and even minor colour changes. This promotes softer, smoother more youthful skin.

Other benefits of Vitamin A, when applied topically include:

  • thickening of the epidermis, which becomes thinner in the aging process
  • helps to normalise photo (sun) damaged skin
  • helps in wound healing
  • stimulates collagen formation in the skin

But, skin care isn’t just about what you put on it, how you fuel it from the inside is also important. A combination of healthy diet and good skin regime will result in great skin. Vitamin A is present naturally in a number of foods including, cod liver oil, cheddar cheese, pumpkin, spinach (what can’t it do?), egg, mango, sweet potato, and milk.

We’d love to hear about the changes you see!
